Bouslog Insurance is an independent insurance agency located at 360 7th Avenue, Marion, IA 52302. This policy applies to the website at bouslog.com. If you become a customer, the privacy notice you receive with your insurance policy explains how we handle the personal and financial information you provide as a policyholder.
Information we collect
Information you give us
When you use our contact or quote request forms, we collect the information you enter:
- Contact form: your name, email address, phone number (optional), how you’d like us to contact you, and your message.
- Quote request form: the types of coverage you’re interested in, your name, email address, phone number, ZIP code, how and when you’d like us to contact you, and, if you choose to tell us, whether you’re a current client, your current insurance company, your renewal date, vehicle identification numbers (VINs) and any notes.
Please don’t type Social Security numbers, driver’s license numbers, dates of birth or other sensitive details into the forms; we’ll collect what we need securely when we follow up.
Documents you upload
The quote form lets you upload documents, such as your current insurance declarations pages, as PDF files or photos. These can contain personal details, including policy numbers, coverage amounts, vehicle information and, on some auto policies, dates of birth and driver’s license numbers. Uploading is optional. Uploaded files are sent only to our office, to help us prepare your quote.
Information collected automatically
Like most websites, our web server records basic technical information such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you visit. To protect our forms from spam, we keep a scrambled (hashed) version of your IP address to limit repeated submissions.
How we use your information
- To respond to your questions and quote requests.
- To prepare insurance quotes and provide the service you ask for.
- To send you an automatic email confirming that we received your request. It goes to the email address you enter and summarizes what you sent (for a quote, the coverage types, ZIP code, contact preferences and the number of files attached; for a message, your message). It never includes your uploaded files.
- To operate, secure and improve our website.
- To comply with legal and regulatory obligations.
We do not sell your personal information.
How we share information
- Insurance companies: When you ask for a quote, we may share the information needed to prepare that quote, including documents you upload, with the insurance companies we represent.
- Service providers: We use Amazon Web Services to deliver the emails generated by our website forms, including any files you upload. Our office email is hosted by an email provider. These providers process information on our behalf.
- Legal requirements: We may disclose information when required by law or to protect our rights and the safety of others.
Cookies
Our website doesn’t use advertising or tracking cookies. Our contact and quote forms use a short-lived session cookie to protect against spam and fraudulent submissions, and to keep track of files you’ve attached while you finish the quote form. It is deleted when you close your browser.
How long we keep information
Form submissions are emailed to our office. We keep the information you send only as long as needed to respond to you, provide our services, and meet our legal and regulatory obligations.
Our website doesn’t keep copies of your form submissions once they’re delivered. If email delivery is delayed, your submission, including any uploaded files, is stored privately on our web server and delivery is retried automatically. It is deleted from the server as soon as it’s delivered, and never kept there for more than 30 days.
Uploaded files are stored privately on our web server only until they’re emailed to our office, normally within seconds, and are then deleted from the server. Files uploaded to a quote form you don’t submit are deleted within a day.
How we protect information
Our website uses encrypted HTTPS connections, and form submissions are delivered using encrypted connections. Uploaded files and delayed submissions are stored outside the public part of our website, where they can’t be viewed or downloaded by anyone visiting the site. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect the information you share with us.
Links to other websites
Our site links to other websites, including the websites of the insurance companies we represent, Facebook and Google Maps. Links to insurance company websites open in a new tab. Those websites are not operated by us, and their privacy practices are governed by their own policies.
Children’s privacy
Our website is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The “last updated” date at the top of this page shows when it was last revised.
